'Tis The Season For Tradition

Growing up, adventuring to cut down the family Christmas tree was always a family-bonding trip. We would all get bundled up in our boots, snow pants, warm and fuzzy jackets, hats gloves, and scarves in order to face the cold Wisconsin winter weather. This was always a tradition for my family, however when I went off to college this tradition came to an end for my family but not for me entirely.  I am one who does not like to see a tradition die, so I have found other ways to keep the tradition alive here in Indiana.

Last weekend, I adventured with a friend and her family to Dull’s Tree Farm in Thorntown, IN. We bundled up in our winter gear, grabbed a saw and tree cart and adventured out into the field to find the perfect Christmas tree for my friend’s family.

After we found the perfect Christmas tree, we brought it back to get bundled and loaded into the car. Since it was a nice brisk day, we adventured inside for some warm hot cocoa and sat by the crackling fire. Once we finished our mugs of hot cocoa we piled into the car, and as we drove away we said “it’s now a tradition. Same place, same time, next year.”

Though I was not with my own family, a tradition has been formed going to Dull’s Tree Farm. It was an experience that I will never forget and I cannot wait to go back again next year!
